For 55 years now, the nation-state of Singapore has maintained a relentless pace of development. A social and economic miracle that has seen the country propelled from third world to first world in just one generation. However, this young republic so laser focused on "progress", faces the very real danger of losing its natural heritage to urbanization. Mature trees are a national heritage and serve as important landmarks. These trees help to identify and keep rooted a peoples in an ever changing cityscape that finds progress taking precedence over nature. This project aims to photograph the 261 registered Heritage Trees for posterity.
This is a work-in-progress.
