Rustavi is the second city in the Republic of Georgia. One could say it suffers from the city-to-city equivalent of the Middle Child Syndrome << Middle child syndrome is the belief that middle children are excluded, ignored or even outright neglected because of their birth order >> This portrait series is a precursor to a feature film project set in Rustavi slated for production in 2022-23. A coming-of-age story based on true stories of the real Rustavi Kids, growing up in a sea of grey, endless blocks of Krushchevska monoliths, dark skies polluted by the surrounding industrial steelworks, the bedrock of labor in this industrial township, offering an entry career into a bleak future, clashing head on with the hormone fueled, social media inflamed desires and ambitions of our protagonists.
